My gauge acts the same as yours. I've tried two or three different ones and
they act the same way. I also swapped out the sending unit with no luck. I
also installed a voltage stabilizer inline with the gauge (Bugeyes don't
have one) and it did not help.
If you get any ideas that are not sent to the list I would be interested in
hearing about them.
