if for some dumb reason your car is missing one or all three of the wire
"loops" for the spare tire hold down, here is a sugestion. go to your
local upholstry shop and ask to see their selection of"footman's loops" .
these little devices of the devil are usually chromed and attach with 2
screws per piece. they look just like the welded loops with the exception
of being attached with 2 screws. and if you choose to go this direction
may i sugest that you do not use sheet metal screws but instead stop at your
local hardware store and pick up some machine screws and washers and either
locking nuts or standard split lock washers for under the nuts. this way
your spare hold down will not vibrate loose and anger you after the
instalation.
of course it would not be original.

but you can also have them welded in. but be carefull if you have a gas
tank with a cut filler neck joined by a hose as you probably have fumes in
that aerea. recomend removing gas tank for welding on general principal of
safety reguarding to close proximity in welding aerea. welding is not a big
deal unles you have a finished car and are trying to protect the finish from
the heat from the welder. or trying to protect the interior from the guy
doing the welding crawling into the trunk who is not at all concerned about
your upholstry!

ok gang there are 2 ways to get a spare secure in a bugeye trunk. hope
that is of some help.

chuck.
wondering if that was technical enough......never mind!
