If you have no need to turn off the heater valve just tap the hole in the
head and put a hose barb in it and you will cure the problem forever. I have
done this in both Minors and Sprites with no adverse side affects plus it
keeps coolant circulating through the heater core. (helps prevent rot)

Listers,

Do to extreme stupidity on my part, I am now looking for the valve and
baseplate that mounts on the block to turn on and off the flow of water to
the heater core. If anyone wants to know how NOT to repair this item, I can
tell you how. I did need just the baseplate, now I need both.

Anyone have a non-cracked one they would like to get rid of?

Bill
