Hello All,
I don't know if this will be a complete answer to this question but here is
what I
can quickly find.

A quick perusal of the 1977 Leyland Parts Manual provides the following data:
Midget Mk III commencing with car No. G-AN4-52390
Midget Mk III commencing with car No. G-AN5-74886
Midget Mk III commencing with car No. G-AN6-154101
(There is no mention of a Mk. IV Midget)

Quickly looking at my Midget factory sales brochures for the chrome and RB
Midgets
make no mention of "Mk." numbers for the later cars.

So it could be that the "Mk." designations were dropped with the RB cars or
thereabouts. This is a deliberately vague conclusion since I do not profess to
have
any knowledge of the RB cars.
