I recently purchased what I thought was a 63 MG Midget. Car no.
GAN1L-4506. I now understand that is a 61 VIN, which would explain my front
drum breaks. So I've recently purchased a 61 Midget. It's in good shape....
for $700. I bought it as a project and a project it will be. Among the
things I've found on my car that I didn't expect include a 4-speed
transmission with a Hurst shifter. A 61 had a 3-speed out of the factory,
right? I might be wrong. Along with the $-speed and Hurst, it came with a
roll bar, and a bonnet pin conversion. Which sure makes it seem like my car
had been used for racing at some point in it's 40 year life. U.S. issue
Midgets had an MPH speedometer, right? Mine's in km/h. This leads me to
believe it was canadian at birth. If you have any info on my car, or little
things i might want to know before I dive head first into a can of worms, any
help/advice is appreciated.
