Winter storage

Alas, it looks like the little guy may be spending a Michigan winter 
outdoors this year.  The friend whose garage I used the last two 
winters went and bought an Alero (damn his eyes!) and needs the 
space.  My question is, should a Technalon (sp?) cover be an 
adequate defense against the elements?  We've had pretty mild 
winters lately, so I'm hoping good preparation and a good cover will 
do the job.  Any suggestions appreciated.  Thanks.
