Hi All,

The polar Bear Run or more commonly know as the Trans Sierra Run this
week end lived up to it's name.

Started with Breakfast at the waffle house. We were in the MGB because
Puddles 1st is real bad and may not make it over the mountain. Had some
great viddles. Got there an hour early due to a mis calc on the
distance by our leader. So we waited for the Northern members to join
us. David McCartney joined us from the Sac area in his newly done 71
Midget. I am sad to say he was the only Spridget there as we couldn't
take ours. It was okay though.

Started up the pass with every ones top down. Wasn't bad until about
7,000 feet. It was howling up there. The wind nearly blew me off the
rock when I snapped a picture of the group. I figure it must have been
in the 30's with a +50MPH wind at the top. Several members got dings by
the rocks blowing off the mountain, and one chipped windscreen.

At this point our top went up, I was afraid I would be blown right out
of the car. My wife couldn't blink, her eye lids were frozen and the
car was loading up big time in the cold. There were a few die hards.
Either they forgot a top or just enjoyed the cold I couldn't figure it
out. David You did good. So I get the wimp award this time. It was
either the top went up or the wife walked down the mountain. Took a
minute to think about it.

Over the top of Carson pass we went to Markleeville. The county seat at
a Population of 50. It was warmer over behind the ridge so the top came
down again for a while. We stopped for pic's along the way, the icicles
were spectacular on the pass. When I caught up with the group, everyone
was pulled off the road. The Midget ran out of gas. So David you get
the golden gas can award. He added his spare fuel and we went into town
to gas up. Right, the only station in town was of course closed. The
owner even waved as we went by, thanks a lot. Stopped and ask for
nearest station where we proceeded out of town to a resort. You get one
type of fuel up there regular, and be thankful you found it at $2.26 a
gallon.

We went over Ebetts Pass on the way back, without a hitch. Gathered at
Bear Valley Ski Resort and said our good bys.

All in all it was a good run, little windy and cold. But still it's was
worth the drive. Total car count 17 MGB's, 1 MGA, 1 MGTD, and a Midget
Yeah.

We also met a new Lister I think Tom Zilla up in Sac. He has a Bug-i
but had clutch problems so he ended up in the parts car. Maybe we can
get him to drop us a line on the list.
