Almost finished & Clutch pedal travel

I've just about finished with the Midget - at least phase 1 which is
"getting it one the road and drivable." Finished putting in new A-arms,
kingpins, wheel bearings, left front shock, front brake hoses, water pump,
steering rack mount packing, points, condensor, dist cap, plugs, Magnecor
wires, and valve adjustment. Whew! But took it for a test run and was much
pleased (other than the clutch problem mentioned below). Filled up the tank
and got a bit too much - filled up to the cap - and there seems to be a leak
where the hose connects to the tank - think I just need to tighten the clamp
a bit.

But on to the problem...

I'm having a little trouble with the clutch. I replaced the MC a month or so
ago - I have no idea what kind of MC was on it, but it sure wasn't from any
Midget, but it worked. After I put the correct one on, the clutch doesn't
quite release all the way - when I shift into first (or any gear for that
matter) from a stop I get a little "grunch" noise - the input is still
moving. Not enough friction to noticably drag the motor though. I have bled
the system quite a bit, though I won't swear I don't still have some air in
the line since I thought I had it bled before and the problem was much worse
then. But what I'm sort of confused about is that the pedal is bottoming
out on the floor which doesn't seem right to me. I would have expected the
piston in the MC to bottom out first or the slave to reach it's limit. So
I'm thinking I don't have enough pedal travel. The pedal is bent a bit
sideways. I think whoever put on the odd MC may have bent the pedal trying
to make it line up. It was sticking WAY up and was hard to reach. So it may
be bent down as well. But with the correct MC it is about even with the
brake pedal. I have another clutch pedal I'm going to install, but what
should I expect as far as correct pedal height and amount of travel?

Thanks,

Eddie
