I don't think so.

First of all, just because someone sells a Spridget doesn't mean they are no 
longer interested in Spridgets.

Second, dropping off a list that is supposed to be  a source of information on 
a certain topic and finding the emails that relate to the subject of the list 
means wading through/deleting dozens of messages doesn't equal lack of interest 
in Spridgets. 

It probably is the opposite. People interested in Spridgets go to another 
source for information.

What the people that abuse the list ignore is the fact that the subscribers 
that are lost and the potential subscribers that never sign up due to the 
reputation of this list could be important contributors.
