Hi Wedgies.

I saw a rather long plug for Redline oil in the last digest.
It contained a statement that suggested that some
auto engineers wouldn't use 5w30 in the summer. I would like
to second this bit of information and reenforce it for the
benefit of list members. A little over a year ago, my daughter
had our '92 Honda Accord at college and the oil light came on.
Thankfully, she stopped immediately and had the car towed to
Hokie Honda in Blacksburg, VA (excellent outfit BTW!). They
pulled the pan and found that the oil pickup had been severely
gunked. The car had about 120K on it at the time and oil changes
with 5w30 at intervals between 3000 and 4500 miles. I was astonished!

The current state of the car is great...133K and counting. I'm now
using 10w30 in the summers and 5w30 in the winters. I hope this
information helps to save someone's engine.

Jim
