doug,
the 1157 is a dual element bulb used for the tail lamps for brake and park
lamp, and for front turn / park lamps.
the single element bulb (1056) is for the rear turn lamps.
both bulbs have the same sized bases and globes. the 1157 has staggered
pins on the sides of the base to "key " it into the socket to align proper
elements and contacts when twist locked into the socket.

chuck.

the 1157NA is an amber colored 1157 wich makes a very bright front turn
signal/park lamp if authenticity is not of concern. any aditional
illumination is a plus on these small cars for visibility's sake! the amber
color might aide in visibility at night with bugeye's close together
headlamps, as far as oncoming motorists are concerned? just a thought.
.............c :)
