Tim,

The only way you'll get the chassis number, if it's not on your title, is
through BMIHT. Unless...

...the chassis numbers were written in yellow crayon on the back of the
dashboard, under the mat on the parcel shelf/jump seat and under the
bonnet. After this many years, they are usually no longer readable, but
maybe yo'll get lucky.

BTW, the BAE number will be close (within a couple hundred) in series to
your chassis number, but there is not a direct correlation.
