Rob:
You are right about the two rear hub numbers. My MiniMania parts catalog
and the part number cross-reference book I have that lists 0948 part and
1098/1275 part equivalents both indicate that the BTA490 rear hub is for
wire wheel cars and the 2A 7087 hub is for steel wheel cars.

However, the numbers cast into the hubs on my wire wheel ' 72 are 2A 7087
which would indicate they are from a steel wheel car. My steel wheel ' 67
vintage racer also has the 2A 7087 hubs. We can conclude that some DPO made
the switch on my car (unlikely?) or both wire and steel wheel cars use the
2A 7087 because they are the same.

We still need somebody with a BTA490 to be able to answer your question
about whether they are the same or not.

Sorry I couldn't be the one to solve the mystery.
