I had the same problem....turned out to be the thrust washers on the center
main bearing web. They were worn a bit thin and I was actually shoving the
crankshaft forward and rubbing part of the web, thus causing the engine to
bog. It oughta be pretty easy to fix...best I remember, seems like there's
no tang on the top half of the washer so it'll just rotate out when you
remove the center cap. Can't really remember for sure...it's been a long

M-squared,
I've experienced this in 948's with the carbon T.O.
bearing. I was told it was "common", I didn't buy it.
But I could never really fix it, either.
