Mike, and anybody else, 
I think I know what is causing your upper end miss.
Loose intake bolts. I just went nuts with the 74, it runs fine at slow
speeds but craps out when you step on it.
2 different sets of carbs, 3 dizzys, caps, plugs, etc (like what we did
to yours)
When leaning on the air cleaners, I noticed a drop in idle.
Tighten up the bolts and all is well now.
Now it smokes like a chimney though.
Good ole 1098s, do any not smoke? Maybe my valve umbrellas jumped up but
I probably snapped a ring with my luck.
