Perhaps asking Castrol could give you an answer. http://www.castrol.com
I know Ulix, that was on the list, was heavy into Fiats as well.
Ulix Goettsch e-mail: ulix@u.washington.edu might want to fire him off an
e-mail.

Good luck.

Subject: Transaxle oil?

I am off-topic with this post, but I don't know of any more knowledgeable
group anywhere than the Spridgets listers. I've struck out on this subject
with the Fiat group.

I recently acquired a 1971 Fiat 850. This car has a hypoid transaxle, and I
am concerned about what oil is appropriate. Obviously it will have to be EP
for the hypoid but at the same time I am concerned about possible brass
parts in the transmission. A manual I have calls for Castrol Hypoy B. What
would be a modern equivalent of that?

Thank you all for any help you can offer.
