You can only be a DPO if you sell the car.
As long as I am the current owner, I'll take reliability and drivability
over originality. You concours people can carry your cars around in
enclosed trailers. It's not a gull-wing Mercedes, you know.
I choose to drive mine. Anyway, I was driving yesterday instead of
waiting for parts to arrive. I didn't have an extra alternator (or
rectifier) sitting on the shelf. Neither did any parts houses in town.
I can put a Lucas alternator back on in no time, and you couldn't tell
the GM thing was ever there. I wish some DPO had installed a 5-speed kit
in my car, or a Weber carb, or a 1380. Granted, some people have no
taste, and others have poor taste.
