Am late on this thread, Gerard, but have
had experience with tube shock conversions on "tuned" '74 Spridget and
now on my '61 Frog.

You are correct in stating damage can
occur to stock components with tube shock conversions due to stress.

This has been my experience in each of
the above cases.  I expected same in
'74 Spridget as "handling" was prime
concern in this little street racer; cracked
A-arms where tubes mounted running
straight GasAdust shocks. 

In "stock" '61 Frog, same type problem
running "stock" shocks that came with
this "WheelRite" kit. So, installed "softer"
GasAdjust GR-2's and haven't had this
problem, since.

Still, will look for even "softer" shock in
future, as even "softer" GR-2's a "little
much" for normal street work.

I find tube conversion great for normal
street use wherein many roads are less
than "track" smooth, as variable response
of tube shock preferred at normal legal
speeds.

However, had car not come equipped with
conversion when bought, I would definitely give Peter C's shocks a
chance
before "going over".

Everyone who has used Pete's shocks
has nothing but compliments to offer and
this speaks for itself, IMHO!
