I feel so confident about my leak repairs I am leaving in a few minutes
to pick up my son at school about 8 miles form home in 100F+ weather.
As long as I keep moving the car will probably be O.K. The last time I
took it out in 100 degree weather it ran at 195F! Pretty good for a
supercharged car. I bought a thermostat from Norman Nock this past week
and have not put it in yet. This is the old type with the sliding
sleeve that covers the bypass hole when it is open. I'm not sure if it
is the correct sliding sleeve type for the Bugeye because the original
parts manual has a picture of the thermostat that looks slightly
different than this one. The sleeve may not move far enough to cover
the hole in the "A" series head. This thermostat is identical to the
original big Healey one where the sleeve is directly below the flange of
the thermostat before it moves down. Another project for this week. As
usual I will report to the list.
Mike MacLean Supercharged 60 Sprite
P.S. This thermostat is not for the "we tight" people on the list.
Norman charges $35 for them!
