1976 Midget - 1500 engine

I just got the estimate for (all new) parts to have my 1976 MG Midget
restored.  This is just engine and clutch.
$3.382.27!!!!!  This does not include machine work or labor.
Does this sound right??

Do you all know of any place I could get used parts that wouldn't break down
the day after they are put into it??
HELP!!!!!!!!  I guess I had been dreaming but I had hoped it would only be
around $2,000.  Guess I was delusional!
