Another suggestion is to buy a teflon sheath accelerator cable from APT.  These
cables are made for Minis and are slightly longer than the Sprite cable.  The
advantage of using this cable is that you can use less springs for the return 
and
put less wear on the throttle shaft in the carb.  They slide like butter and the
ends fit just like a Sprite's.  More expensive than bicycle cable though.
