Hello list,
This is my first post to the list. I met some people from the list
last year in Wadsworth at a show on route 94. I am seeking help in two
areas:
I bought my wife a 1969 Austin Healey IV over a year ago. I have
been goofing around with it since then and have gotten to the point
where I am ready to see if it is wants to be alive. My brother restores
Volkswagens and has been helping me out. We seem to be getting good
compression, good spark but the carbs have been sitting so long that it
can't get any fuel. I have taken the carbs off and carefully started to
disassemble them. They are soaking in a carb cleaner mix that my dad
uses all the time and tomorrow I will start to reassemble them. My 1st
question is does anyone have any tips for me before I start reassembling
them? Are there things that I should look for before I reassemble them?
Am I out of my mind for even trying?
My second point of help is that this car was hit in the front
passenger side fender and I am looking for a replacement (the driver's
side is decent but could use a little work also) fender for it. I am
not trying to make it a show car just yet, but I was wondering if anyone
might have a set that they would be willing to sell. I know that I can
go through the magazines but I am not ready to put that kind of money
into it until all the mechanical stuff is finished. The car is in very
nice shape, no rust in the normal spots. There was some in the front
valance but that has since been replaced.
Well, this has gotten long but I just wanted to say hello to the
list and introduce myself. Any help would be appreciated. I am sure
that now I will have several questions. I also have a 1959 Bugeye and 5
large boxes of parts sitting in our garage that is for me. The only
thing is that my wife has determined that her's has to be running before
I can start on mine.

Thanks for all the advice I have picked up so far just from reading
about other people's cars. It makes me think that I can actually get
these two running.
