I am preparing a Spit manifold and carbs to put the dual HS4 carbs onto my
1500. If you use the HS4s off a "B" engine you will have to shorten the rods
between the two carbs that your accelerator and choke linkages attach to, as
the carbs sit further apart on the "B" than they do on the Spitfire. My HS4s
came off a '67 MGBGT, and upon disassembly I was very pleased to find they
had very, very few miles on them, and that the throttle shafts were good. I
am waiting till well after Christmas to catch up so I can purchase the
overhaul kit and complete the job.
