Transmission "assembly" sealant

I bought a new smoothcase transmission for the bugeye.  I need to move the 
"linkage assembly" from the old transmission to the new one.  There is a 
paper gasket there (came already on the new one).  Do I need to us any 
sealant on this gasket?
