I looked at a 1976 Fiat 124 Spider today that was advertised for $800. It has
been sitting for 18 years in a garage so the body is actually still there! One
noticeable hole in the driver's side rocker panel. Various dings and small
dents all over the place. BRG paint from many years ago that shows its age...
Seats ripped, good top, nice luggage rack, bald bias-ply tires! The story is
that the original motor went south, the DPO replaced it and never got the
replacement engine running. Serious project but a solid car. It has a decent
look (from 10 feet) but the patina is very ripe.

I asked the seller's bottom dollar and he said that he thought it was priced
right. A moment later he asked what I would go for it. I told him I'd think
about it. He's only had it for a couple of weeks. He claims he bought it to
put a GM drive train in but I suspect he got a hellovadeal on it and just
wants to turn a quick profit. Or, he got in over his head with the double
overhead cam engines! He does own a TR-3, 4 and 6 so he mostly knows tractor
engines...

I only mention it in case somebody out there really needs some Italian
headaches for a change.
