Hi, Alex, and welcome to "the list"! :)

There are literally a bunch of excellent
cams available, depending upon the
application.

An absolutely excellent guide to what
is "out there" is contained in the pertinent
chapters of Dave Vizard's book ("bible"
on "Tuning BL's A-Series Engine"
available from:

www.aptfast.com for a reasonable $43.95
(part #B-01).

The Kent 266 with intake/exhaust duration
in the 260's is an excellent choice for
good low and "better" mid-range torque
as is the "original" Cooper "S" with slightly
less duration (and lift). Both of these can
be used with stock compression ratio but
another point or so will improve trapping
efficiency.

While both of these cams respond well
to 1.5 rockers, they are perfectly happy
with the stock rocker ratio for applications wherein the driver chooses
to run his motor to <4.500 most of the time. If you are revving to over
this most
of the time, the 1.5 rockers start paying
off in normally aspirated applications.

The stock MG Metro cam is also an
excellent low & mid-range performer as
well.

All these and many more are detailed
in Dave Vizard's excellent book on the
Series A along with about developing
every other aspect of these motors;
as in slightly larger intake valves, a
header and free flow exhaust to help
develop the potential of the "uprated"
cam profile; a well-worthwhile book to
have around.
