I bought my Frogeye from the UK to
the US last year - I guess its now
a Bugeye.

To clear customs you have to get
3 forms

        1) Goods import
        2) Emissions
        3) Car type specs (safety)

For the first form I convinced the
customs officer that as I owned the
car for 10 years in the UK and I
had no intention to sell it then
there was no import duty. If they
think the car is going to sold they
will charge duty.

2 & 3 were easy if the car is over
25 years old its excempt from the
emissions stds and crash testing
stuff. If less than 25 years you
have to show its a listed type
that has been tested or be willing
to make mods (extremely expensive),
hence they make you post a bond while
you get this sorted. Note a non-US
car same make and model may not be
the same and therefore would have to
be crash tested etc.

In Colorado, I had to show the local
DMV all the forms, record from the
UK (UK DVLC registration doc) and
then get a VIN plate inspection plate
by Highway Patrol and an emmissions
test.

I can dig out all the forms if anyone
needs then they are all on the web.
