Can't be done... You'll need to add to the outside. your other problem with
this is that a wire that has heated that much will also burn through other
wires in the harness. There is always the possiblity you will have other
shorts/failures in other circuits.

The only spot you can "tighten up" is the side inspection cover. They are
often the culprit, but it could be your rear tranny seal or the cover at
the first motion shaft. See if you can determine the source location of the
oil.
