This HAS been a pretty poopy summer, like Bob Kansa said.

I got the replacement .010 rod bearings and got around to putting them
in yesterday. Buttoned up the pan, filled the oil and the engine won't
crank. Too tight! AAAAAAHHHHH! The new standard bearings were way too
loose and I measured the crank and it was .010 under size (the old
bearings say .010 U/S right on them, so do the new ones). Going to pull
the pan Wednesday night and see what I can find. Check assembly and
remeasure the crank. I figured the old bearings got a little loose from
the crank walking around with the bad thrust washers, so I'd just whip
in a new set. It's not like I've never assembled an engine before. Going
to stop and buy some plastigauge. The plan called for using the engine
as was for the next year until the funding would handle a rebuild.

Maybe I'll put the old bearings back in so we can enjoy what's left of
the weather.
