Bill,
 According to page 116 of my Horler (Thanks Brent!), February of 1972 (well
after the last Sprite) the steering rack was changed from a Morris Minor
unit to a Triumph unit.
The Minors used oil, the Triumphs used grease. If it has a "grease fitting"
it uses oil and you are supposed to have a funky oil pump to put it in with.
