I left England a long time ago... and I remember little about the Herald...
but for what it's worth:

The Triumph Herald was first produced in 1959, and I believe it was first
fitted with the 948 cc A series, at least until 1960 or 1961. In 1962,
engines were 1200 cc - 1147 spitfire engine? The bigger engined Vitesse had
a 1600 cc engine to start with (I think), and the GT6 6 cylinder engine
later on. If I remember well, Herald/Vitesse were very similar for the
running gear to the Spitfire/GT6.
