Why not go to an "original" Series "A" 1&1/8 SU set-up, then!!!!?

In all seriousness, now, you make a good
point.....the MGA 1500 was not
a high revving engine, either. None of the
stock 3 main bearing engines are, really, and in any event, the stock
cam profiles
definitely favor the low and mid-range.

Not only that, but the 1500 engines don't
share ports like the Series "A", so I would
think the 1.25 set-up would provide better
flow to the 4 port 1500 better than it would
the siamesed-port version of a 1500 engine, anyway. Add to this the
"velocity"
of smaller throats you speak of, and I 
feel your thinking on this has more than
just a little merit. 

Matter of fact, I think you are "spot on".
