backwards fuel guage

I installed a repro sending unit in my '65 Midget, positive ground.

the guage reads full when empty, empty when full.

I've searched the archives, haven't been able to find solution.

Any solutions?  it's probably a very simple matter, but I'm little shaky
experimenting mixing electricity and gasoline.
