Very interesting, John...

Dyno sessions are SO worthwhile...
(Sound like a "Dyno-Jet" set-up he's
got?)....

....and with no intent to split hairs:

"Capping" the ignition advance curve off
"earlier" will allow you to retain the
more quick acceleration of the initial setting without exceeding the 33
degrees
the old ignition setting "came with"....

IOW..."shorten" the curve a bit with a
"bush" about the pin to limit advance a
bit.

We did this to my Aldon "special" (for
6psi low pressure supercharger application) 43D curve when we decided
to forego the Judson as "unsuitable" in
it's present design form for the larger bore
Series A motors (IMHO!).

We ran on a Dyno-Jet (Cooper "S"
grind on 8.3-1 spec 1293) with 89PON
and ended up with H6's, red springs and
32 degrees total using "6" NGK's while
matching fuel/ignition "curves" for max.
street torque in low and mid-range.

I'm using 93PON when engine
compartment (induction air) temps.
increase in the summer, just to be on
the safe side.

I love dynos.....max power out of your
investment SAFELY with
respect to pre-ignition/detonation! :)
