You do not identify the source of the heat!
Is it coming off the floor? If so and the
car is LHDrive, the exhaust pipe MAY
be mounted too close to the floor.
A little bit of clearance "under there" is
all that is required. Less than an inch of
air between the exhaust pipe and floor-
board will make a huge difference in
floor temp.
Is it coming from the heater?
Have you closed the heater vent under
the dash on your side (and kept the pax side open!)?
Hot air from the gearbox through the
shifter opening is another source of
cockpit heat in general. Gaitor in good
shape?
You can take the heater out of the
circuit entirely. It only holds 5% of the
total system capacity anyway BUT,
the heater is in and of itself a heat
exchanger and allows the engine to
run a little cooler in summer weather.
Now, you engine doesn't show signs
of overheating, so maybe the immediately
foregoing is not the priority?
So, if you take the heater out of the
system per Chuck Christ's post, cooler
cockpit air will prevail!! As long as the
water tap at the rear of the block remains
open and the coolant from "back there"
is allowed to circulate freely through the
system....that's all that's important.....
that you not simply shut off the tap to
the heater but instead...take the heater
out of the system "Chuck's Way"! :)
