Basically...

If the 1500 system is anything like a 1275's.....
You want to remove the air pump which
drains HP and plug it's manifold going to
the exhaust ports in the head. Or snip the
manifold off at the head plugs, covering
each with a plastic cap to plug them off.

Or remove those also and replace them
with an appropriate allenhead, hex, (whatever!) plug of the correct size
and
thread.....as long as these air ports are
plugged off one way or the other!! :):)

Remove the gulp valve from the PCV
hose system going to the carb. or
manifold...wherever it goes to. You want
to keep the PCV system hooked up...but
without the ("stupid"!:) gulp valve.

As long as the charcoal element in the
charcoal canister is kept clean and renewed in accordance with the
maintenance manual, all else can really
be kept in place as all else does not really detract from performance.
Just make
sure all the lines going to and from the
charcoal canister are clear, including the
canister's vent line. "Fish tank" charcoal
can be used to "renew" the charcoal supply in the canister as well..same
stuff.

The PCV system is a good thing in your
case...prevents pressurization of the
crankcase and thus, oil leaks.

If and when the power robbing single
throat ZS carb. starts giving you trouble
and you want to remove it for something
better (like the twin SU set-up supplied
to the European applications), give a yell
and we'll steer you in the right direction :)
