I knew that the wisdom of the list would come up trumps and I'm impressed.
Lots of stuff to try and check out but not tonight as its getting late. The
sound card figures a lot and I have 2 but only one installed. The on board
sound isn't installed but the one on the card is (throwback to old PC) so I'll
be
dealing with that first. Also a lot of info on W98 just not being that good
which I figured was also part of the problem. I have no money for an XP update
at least for a while though other than a bit more RAM I think all my hardware
is ok with XP and has XP drivers etc
I didn't know about doing a google search either and had heard the Microsoft
had ceased supporting 98 and my search on their website hadn't turned up much
so I gave that up as a lost cause.
