I had the same problem with my 79 after converting to a Weber. There are 
some pretty detailed ways out there but I simply put a small vent hole in 
the cap and then ran a hose from the breather on the valve cover down the 
side of the engine to just past the oils pan. Cut the end diagonally with 
the long eng facing the front. This will create a vacum through the hose and 
help to vent the engine. Get a little messy on the undercarrige but at least 
it's not all over the compartment.
