you need to use rear wheel drive axle degree shims (to be inserted between
spring and spring mount) to effectivly lower a 1/4 eliptic rear equipped
cars. this is alignment shop / spring specialty stuff. the shims are
something most garages are completly unaware of! the shims are used to
correct pinion angles in relationship to transmission output shafts in 1/2
eliptic sprung cars. wich in rear wheel drive aplications should be
paralell. another fun thing is watch how much you change ride height! or
you will need heim joint rear axle upper links to adjust the rear axle
pinion angle to compensate for the change in ride height. if the
transmission out put shaft and pinion centerlines are not paralell it
becomes a horrible mess in relationship to universal joints and pinion
bearings. oh , the assembly as a whole will work but component longevity is
severly compromised. as far as lowering the rear ride height i'd seriously
reccomend what i'm running wich are 3 leaf competition offset rear springs.
then you must cut down the triangular rear axle rubber bumpers to allow for
the lower ride height axle travel. in seriouasly lowered 1/4 eliptic cars
you must also cut down the rear axle above the upper link mounts and section
out as much material as possible and weld the upper bump stops mounting pad
back on. (like in my car as well) this provides optimum travel and still
allows for a rubber cushion to hit the body in maximum upwards travel.
ummm not that i ever have done anything like this.......*grin*.

chuck
same darn bugeye for 29 years and counting! :)
