Well today I finally drove the Yellow Bugeye for the first time since
it's retirement in July of 2003. Back then it was my daily driver with a
1275 and a 5 speed.
Now it is a stock 948 with a smoothcase tranny.
But I drove around the neighborhood today with no windshield.
Talk about nadsicles!
The car ran great but the water pump bearing decided to go south on me.
I guess it had a right to go bad since it was an original cast iron
water pump. I already replaced it.
And that damn aluminum thing under the heater valve was corroded and
pitted on the underside enough that it leaked coolant all over the nice
clean engine, trans, and engine bay.
Does anybody make repros of these things? I sanded it flat and gooped it
up, it stopped leaking. I do not have any unstripped spares of these
things. I have a bunch of heater valves but no base plates.

Also, how long does vasoline take to burn off a flywheel and pressure
plate? I sanded the f/wheel and p/plate and I lightly smeared them with
vasoline to keep them from rusting before I fired up the engine.
the clutch was slipping a bit. So if the disc is good, my clutch slipage
is either still due to the grease job or because my master cylinder rod
is out of adjustment. Correct? I hope. The clutch disc was from my pile
of who knows what stock. It might even be new, it looked damn near new
so I used it. No glaze and lots of meat on it so it shouldn't slip.

If anybody is interested, I posted pictures (taken AFTER my drive)
There is also a shot of the glass washer bottle.
