To Peter C and Paul A for their suggestion on the use of a Ford Fiesta
alternator for my Mini.  With a bit of judicious filing on the top fan-side
"ear" to line up the pulleys, it slipped right in.

Thanks also to teglerizer.com and those who suggested his mods.
