Well...

The 1098 (I had the later "CC" model
in the Sprite when I initially acquired it)
is a stroked version (more or less) of
the 948). So, it's torquier, but a lot 
weaker (in stock form) above 3k than
the stock 1275, which continues to pull
strongly pretty much up to redline.

The longer stroke 1098 is not a "revver"
as much as it is a low, low mid-range
"puller".

I noticed the 1275 runs generally more
"roughly" than my 1098 which was just
silky smooth...the smoothest Series
A I've ever run as a matter of fact.

On the practical side, 1275's abound as
do parts for these motors so, economically, in both the short and long
run, I think you'd be much better off
with the 1275.
