As in models preceeding the 1500...
most place the pumps just forward of the
tank on the vertcal wall of the rear floor
with a filter prior to the pump. Pumps
tend to heat up. So, not only is the pump
close to the tank (as you previously mentioned) it's in a "cool"
location as well.
That does not mean that it will not work
elsewhere. It just may not work as well,
or as long.
