Which brings up a good
point. 5.5" rim width is the recommended
minimum for 60 width...6"+ is better of
course for keeping the tire "beneath" the
rim, doing it's job (so to speak:).

Generally speaking:
Also remember, the wider you go (within
reason) the "shorter" the car becomes
("go kart" wise) and grip in wet
weather decays to the extent it definitely
improves in the dry.

I had 185/60's on a lowered, Vizardized
'74 Midget, 3/4 front bar, 5/8 rear bar
and KYB Gas-Adjust tubes all around,
using 008R's and 5.5 Westerns....the
handling was obscenely good (car was
a ball:) in the dry, but "reasonably marginal" in the wet. In even the
lightest
snow, the car was a definite "no go", period! :)

The foregoing having been said, a lot
depends on tread, compound, etc., of
course.
