I must agree....

Mazda rotaries sound like s-it but man, 
they DO "produce" HP lb for lb, eh? :)

Oddly enough, this was also the case
for WW1 aircraft rotary (different "rotary") engines as well, ultimately
replaced by
the radial as the rotary's gyroscopic forces
limited higher power outputs beyond about 200hp (considering the "light"
aircraft construction of the times) as I
understand it.
