Hi everyone,

After replacing the points/condenser this weekend, I'm still not having any
luck getting my car to crank. I'm hoping someone has some ideas.

I need to preface everything by saying that the PO did some re-engineering on
the wiring harness that has me a little confused. First, he replaced the
original ignition key with an aftermarket switch he mounted in the center
console. I wouldn't think that would be the problem. Second, I've got three
wires going to the coil. One wire runs from the + terminal on the coil to the
distributor/points/condenser. Then I've got two wires going from the harness
to the - terminal on the coil. One is the white tach wire (I'm assuming).
The other wire comes from the same location on the harness. Two white and
black wires have been twisted together with one wire feeding from there to the
- coil post. This make sense to anyone?

I originally had the +/- reversed on the coil. I swapped it when I turned the
key on and didn't hear the fuel pump. Once I swapped it, I had to run some
jumper cables to the car (weak battery), and it fired right up. In fact, it
ran much smoother with the new points. After letting it run about 10 minutes
with no problems, I killed it. I tried to crank it again, and nothing. It'll
turn over all day long, but it's not getting any fire.

To top things off, a mouse made a nest under the hood in the last month and
chewed the wires going to the heater blower in half.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. It's frustrating to have it run one
second and not run the next.

Thanks,
Glenn
