The bonnet (or hood) hits the top of my carb (single SU HIF6) making a
little dent in hood, and tranfering a lot of engine vibration. Tried
several adjustments, but finally figured that Minimania had sent me a
Mini intake not a Sprite. I picked up a new intake manifold from Dave
Anton at APT this week. Installed yesterday, fits perfectly, bonnet not
resting on top of carb any more.
BUT engine won't start now! It cranks over but won't catch. I sprayed in
some starter fluid, & it starts but REALLY rough (sounds like running on
2 cylinders) & then dies. The intake manifold is only thing I changed,
and I had run to store earlier in day, engine running fine.
I'm thinking I can put old intake back on to see if this fixes problem.
But I really need to switch to correct manifold. Any ideas as to what
may be causing problems? Any suggestions what I may check today? I'll
call Dave Anton on Monday, but I am hoping to get fixed today.
