list filters not working?

In the last few days, the filters I have to avoid some of our more prolific 
writers have not been working.
I don't read the stuff, but I am wearing out the delete button.
I did check my mail controls, and I do have the blocking feature in place, 
but somehow these unwanted emails are swimming upstream into my in box.
Anyone else having this problem?
