how very cool!
it's a bit funny to me being surrounded by sprites and midgets how few
people are really aware of these cars. evry so often i'm asked if i have
any "old cars". and ocasionally i get to take someone to show them the
sprite. always the response is "what is that" & "who made it"& "how old is
that"?
evryone on the list has some variant or multiple variants of these cars and
when we gather with friends this is the topic of conversation. nothing
wrong with that at all! but after a while i tend to forget how few are
left and even fewer are in daily use or seen regularly by the public other
than parked at a show somewhere.
the ocasional chance to share these cars with the public, be it at a cruise
night, car show or some other function, is truly a wonderfull experience!
recently i was contacted by a high school student who was restoring a 1960's
vintage saab as his high school graduation "project". he needed to write a
paper to go with the work he did on his car as part of his graduation
requirements. a few quotes from my correspondances were used in his
paper. i found that interesting that i'd be quoted in such a way and have
an effect upon a child's literal graduation's outcome! i race the old
saab because it's fun and it's what i enjoy doing! never once did i set
out to intend one day to be any kind of role model nor effect today's
youth's future! thinking back it's pretty darn neat!
it's a very rewarding thing to share something of what you know or own.

chuck.
ok, back to illiterate "lurk" mode....*grin*
