Seriously, I wouldn't do it. Busses seldom go non-stop, but stop in every
little town imaginable. The cargo area is not heated, cooled, or ventilated
properly for transporting an animal.
I have flown a dog once. They go as cargo, and the airlines will not take
them when the ambient temperature at the departure or arrival airport is too
hot
or cold. I don't know about prices, but you have to have them in an approved
container. At that time, some 15 years ago, American Airlines sold he a
kennel for $60. I seem to remember the price was higher than a ticket.
Something
like $300 from El Paso to Phoenix.
The dog made the trip with no problems.
Is it a small dog? Make the trip yourself on the plane and for an extra $40
or so you can carry the dog on with you. Not all airlines allow this.
